The Merchant navy, its mandatory for all the candidates to undergo pre-sea training after the completion of their courses. The Maritime Training Institute conducts the pre-sea training for the candidates. Be it Marine Engineering or The Maritime Catering programme. Depending upon the programme pursued by the candidate the duration of training can vary from six months to one year.
1. 4 years B.E(Marine Engineering) course

Fees of Government institution will be nearly 2.5 lakhs per annum and 5-6 lakhs of private institutions.
If you are a merit student, you can avail the scholarship of 1 lakh per year offered by Government of India.
If your parents are unable to support you after joining Indian Maritime University Kolkata/Mumbai campus you can apply to DMET/MERI ex-cadets association for help. This help is provided to Meritorious students.
